Sweetwater River Ranch's unique location in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of central Colorado provides its guests with abundant recreational opportunities. With a half-mile of river frontage on the Arkansas River, Sweetwater guests enjoy easy access to blue-ribbon trout fishing and world-class whitewater rafting and kayaking. Royal Gorge is a short drive away. Terrific for bird-watching. Also easily accessible to guests are hiking trails, wildlife viewing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and even rock climbing. BLM's Texas Creek Area, only a couple miles down the highway, offers miles of ATV and Jeep trails. A half hour west of Sweetwater is Salida ("Aspen South"), with its myriad art galleries and hot springs aquatic center. Within a couple hours' drive are Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, as well as additional hot springs facilities for relaxing and ghost towns for exploring. And don't forget gambling and family activities at Cripple Creek! Fun, engaging opportunities to experience nature, learn about local cultural and natural history, and more--all available to guests of Sweetwater River Ranch!
