ACTIVITIES

Enjoy river rafting, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and more!

The Merced River Valley is well known as a hot-spot for outdoor adventures from river rafting to hiking and mountain biking. Join us at Merced River RV Resort, our campground near Merced California, for amazing activities like fishing, falls viewing, horseback riding, and skiing. You'll find all the gorgeous attractions of Yosemite National Park, plus the city-sights of San Jose and Fresno.

Now classed as a National Wild and Scenic River, the Merced River is rated as a Class III-IV white-water rafting river. While the river is fun to raft down at any time of year, the rapids become particularly intense in May and June, and are still challenging in June and July. This swirling river provides plenty of thrills, plus a chance to take in some incredible scenery as you travel down the Yosemite Valley. The river is also a great place to fish for rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout -- and you'll also find a number of nearby lakes, such as Bass Lake, that are fabulous fishing spots.

Lake Yosemite is a 387-acre reservoir that's open to boating, wind surfing, water skiing, fishing, and all kinds of water sports. You can plan a day trip there, enjoy a picnic lunch, then head to the Yosemite Wildlife Museum or the Merced County Courthouse Museum. At Yosemite National Park, you'll find more than 800 miles of hiking trails leading to popular sights like El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls, and Half Dome. And if you decide to head west of Merced River RV Resort, be sure to stop at Henry W. Coe State Park for an afternoon of hiking, horseback riding, fishing, photography, and wildflower viewing.

Near our park, you can explore towns like Delhi, Modesto, and Merced and go hiking along the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls. Take a tour of the Arbor Gallery, the Buchanan Hollow Nut Company, or the Hilmar Cheese Company. You'll find wineries and vineyards to tour, the Castle Air Museum, and the Castle Challenger Learning Center. Wrap it all up with a ride on the Yosemite Valley Railroad and get a bird's eye view of this amazing river valley!
