Coosa River - With its varied terrain and glorious scenery, the Coosa River offers a wide range of activities, from hiking and biking to white-water rafting and gentle floats down quiet river stretches. Spend a day fishing, canoeing, and bird watching from the shore, or plan a horseback riding and rock climbing trip to Little River Canyon. The river basin includes many hiking trails such as the Pinhoti Trail, Appalachian Trail, and Silver Comet Trail, plus exciting white-water with the Class IV rapids in Little River Canyon. A number of state parks dot the upper basin area, offering open spaces for hiking, mountain biking, and fishing for our famous striped bass.
Lake Weiss - West of Rome, GA, just across the border in Alabama, you'll find the sparkling waters of Lake Weiss, a terrific place to spend a day with the family. With a number of full-service marinas, boat ramps, docks, and boat rental facilities (renting houseboats, ski boats, pontoon boats, and more), you'll have easy access to this stunning lake. Spend a day fishing for striped bass, large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass, or crappie on this lake that's known as the "Crappie Fishing Capital of the World." The lake and the Coosa River are also home to blue, channel, and flathead catfish, freshwater drum, smallmouth buffalo, suckers, bluegill, redbreast sunfish, and redear sunfish.
