Opportunities Are Golden to
Explore California's Capital

Consider Sacramento Shade RV Park your gateway to the attractions of Sacramento and beyond. Convenient freeway access takes you quickly to the vibrant cities of San Francisco and Reno and the amazing natural beauty of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Caliornia's capital draws visitors eager to explore both the historic buildings of the bygone Gold Rush days and the modern restaurants, shops and entertainment venues like Arco Arena, now known as the Power Balance Pavilion.

The spirit and buildings of the Gold Rush are preserved in a special downtown area. Old Sacramento State Historic Park features such standouts as the reconstructed Eagle Theatre. It was the first building in the state designated as a theater but unfortunately only lasted three months before being swept away in the flood of 1850. Old Sacramento's historical significance stems from its location as the western stopping point of the Pony Express postal system, the first transcontinental railroad and the transcontinental telegraph. While here, take an underground tour of the city and a train ride powered by an old-time locomotive.

The state capitol opens is doors to those who want to observe the working seat of government and the magnificent collection of California art. Stroll about the surrounding 40-acre park to marvel at the abundant trees, flowers, memorials and monuments. See where Ronald Reagan and many of his predecessors called home during their term in office at the Governor's Mansion State Historic Park. Unique touches each family added to the Victorian mansion are on display, from a purple velvet sofa to a 1950s television. Sutter's Fort State Historic Park captures the vision of one man's dream of an agricultural empire.

It's easy to get to the Sacramento River from points around the city to fish, boat, kayak, canoe, tube and swim. Make sure your camera is handy to take some memorable shots of the wildlife and fantastic scenery. Take the plunge at Raging Waters Sacramento, at the center of the Cal Expo complex just minutes from Sacramento Shade RV Park. Riders can slip, slide and float while cooling off in the refreshing water. Cal Expo is also the site of the California State Fair and live harness racing.
