Redwoods RV Resort is right off the highway with easy access. The grounds are well maintained. There's a great rec area by the office with a playground, horseshoes, volleyball & other games. They have bathrooms with showers (which are free & hot!) as well as porta potties placed throughout the grounds. Very wooded setting; prepare for cooler temps than what is forecast. We had 9 kids with us, and this was our first camping trip in about 8 years.
The staff was very friendly, informational & helpful. They answered questions & made helpful suggestions for spots to access the river. They also have items available for purchase in the office, just in case you forgot something!
TIP: They charge $8/bundle for firewood. Either bring your own, or go down the road to Walmart where it's $5/bundle.
CONS: They mention that there's a volunteer fire station about a mile from camp, and that a siren will go off to summon the volunteers. When that siren goes off, it's like the tsunami warning siren & it's LOUD. It went off multiple times per night for 3 of our 4 nights, and it woke us out of a dead sleep. It also woke the baby. Earplugs are your best friend if you're a light sleeper.
The other con for us was the road noise....you can hear the highway from everywhere in the campground.
PROS: you're 15 minutes from the river, the beach, town, Walmart, several liquor stores and food options.
Beautiful grounds, large tent sites & clean facilities.
Large rec area for families to enjoy.
Free hot showers and coin laundry.
Helpful, knowledgeable staff.
