Skokomish Park Lake Cushman

Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman
A Family Camping Experience

Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman in Washington fits nicely into its neighborhood of parks, lakes, rivers and forests. Campgrounds in the 600-acre park incorporate the lush foliage and waterfront locale into a serene resort in harmony with nature. Rise and shine to hit the beach, catch an early bird flying by or start out on a hike. Plan ahead to secure a spot during the season by using the online reservation system. It's easy to use and ready when you are, 24/7. Skokomish Park is less than an hour drive from Olympia and two hours from Seattle.

The Skokomish Park Campground is divided into two camping areas each forming a loop, on either side of the Big Creek Inlet. Select a comfortable full hookup site at South Camp on the lower loop, with 20/30 amp service. Basic sites suitable for either tents or RVs are found at both the North and South camps. If you're planning a special event or family gathering, chose the group site which has an adjoining shelter with room for 80 people. For your comfort, restrooms with sinks and hot showers are located in both campgrounds. Dine out in the pleasant weather using the park's picnic and barbecue facilities. As the stars come out, take a seat for family movie night in an outdoor theater.

The gorgeous snow-topped peaks, trails and wildlife of the Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park are within easy reach of Skokomish Park. Olympic National Park boasts more than 600 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and biking, ranging from easy to difficult. The preserved wilderness introduces you to a world of ancient forests, rare animals and mountain vistas. Within the national forest, test your mettle by peering down from the 420-foot-high High Steel Bridge  to the rushing water below.

Three boat-launch ramps at Skokomish Park guide guests to jet skiing, fishing and water skiing on Lake Cushman. Everywhere around this area is an abundance of water to enjoy. Hood Canal, a  salt water fjord, yields a bumper crop of crab, shrimp and oysters. Scuba divers revel in the chance to see wolf eels and octopus. Those who set out on canoe or kayaks glide along, drinking in the tranquil atmosphere. On land, golfers can tee off on a number of courses and the town of Hoodsport offers restaurants and unique shops. The Lucky Dog Casino features the latest in gaming machines, exciting table games and a restaurant that serves up a full menu, from breakfast to late-night dining.
