ACTIVITIES

Enjoy fishing, boating, golfing, hiking,
mountain biking, hunting, and more!

You can go Canoeing, kayaking or tubing on Big Cedar Creek, go motor boating and paddle boating on Lake Weiss, or float down a gentle stretch of the Creek, watching for birds and wildlife as you go. We even have canoe, kayak, and inner-tube rentals right here in camp for exploring the graceful Big Cedar Creek. Golfing is also popular at Cedar Creek Park, with our in-camp driving range and nearby golf courses. And a family cookout is always a great time - make use of our BBQ facilities and picnic areas.

A number of state parks and recreational areas fill the Coosa River basin, offering hiking and nature trails through the Cumberland Mountains, trails for mountain biking and horseback riding, as well as hunting and fishing. You can follow a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, go rock climbing, or hike to nearby waterfalls. And after a day of playing in the great outdoors, relax with a Rome Braves baseball game or a cozy lunch in Cedartown. Our own Cave Spring and nearby Rome are known for their antique shops, the Rome Area Council for the Arts, and the exciting Rome Speedway.

From the Coosa River to shining Lake Weiss, our area is known for its amazing water sports. Join us in the "Crappie Capital of the World" for incredible angling for striped bass, large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass, and of course crappie! We also have trout, brim, catfish, and sunfish. Fishing and boating are both highly popular activities in our area, and you'll find a number of boat ramps, launches, and boat rental facilities all located nearby Cedar Creek Park.

Our area hosts a number of fun fairs and festivals, from the Atlanta Steeplechase in April to Mayfest on the Rivers, a celebration of Rome's rivers. In late May we host the Silver Hills Rodeo, followed by the Cave Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festival and a series of First Friday Concerts, free events that run from May to September. We kick off July 4th with fireworks at Ridge Ferry Park, and in the Fall we hold the Chiaha Harvest Fair and annual Ford Festival. You can take in the Rome International Film Festival, then catch a campus tour or sporting event at Berry College,Shorter College, or Georgia Highlands College. We are located just 12 miles form Plant Hammond and Inland paper if you are looking for lodging.
